Saline chlorination vs Traditional chlorine

24 November, 2020

When choosing which water maintenance and disinfection system we want to use for our pool, it is very important to take into account the different options that the market offers us. It is important because this decision can affect not only the quality of the water, but also your health.

The chlorination system always has the same objective, the disinfection of the water so that it is optimal for bathers. But keep in mind that each system has its own characteristics.

Traditional chlorine pools have a lower initial investment, but in the long term they require the continuous addition of chemicals and therefore, in the end, this results in a higher cost. In addition, we must bear in mind that the abuse of chemical products for disinfection can have repercussions on the health of bathers, such as eye irritation or other types of skin problems. We must also consider that chemical products for disinfection are still toxic products that we must be careful when handling them.

It is for reasons such as those discussed above that many people have opted for salt chlorination. This system is an alternative to traditional treatments and provides multiple advantages.

Saline electrolysis is a safer method, it does not use chemicals or toxic products, only salt. It is very careful with the environment because it uses natural substances that are not polluting and respect the environment. In this case, the initial investment is a bit more expensive because several devices have to be purchased: the chlorinator and the cell; but in the long run it means a lower investment since you will not spend on chemicals. It is just as effective in disinfecting water as the traditional system and we avoid risks for bathers while opting for a more ecological solution.

In conclusion, with saline chlorination, the sensation for the bather is usually more pleasant and, as people are not exposed to chemical products, the risk of accidents is avoided and a totally ecological and respectful cycle with nature is achieved.
